Grinding hard metal button inserts in button bits produce dust that pose potential health risks through inhalation, skin and/or eye contact. As the materials used in hard metal button inserts vary, please contact the applicable manufacturer(s) of the button bits being ground for detailed applicable safety information.
There are some simple steps that are recommended to reduce your exposure to the hard metal dust.
Use suitable eye protection, gloves, clothing and dust mask
Maintain the splash guard and cooling water supply during sharpening cycle
Do NOT eat, drink or smoke in the working area
Use and maintain appropriate exhasut ventilation or filtration of air in the working area
